Eric Boullier admires Romain Grosjean’s performance in 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has admired Romain Grosjean’s performance in the 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix and expressed that the podium finish is a big relief for the Frenchman.
Grosjean took a struggling start to this season and could only score one point in the season opener at Albert Park in Melbourne after qualifying for 8th grid position. Later, he came 6th in the Malaysian GP after taking a start from
11th grid slot. In the Chinese GP, he secured 9th place finish after setting off from 6th grid position.
The French driver faced few difficulties in the qualifying at Bahrain International Circuit. But, he performed incredibly well in the race and secured an amazing third podium finish behind his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen. He managed his tyres efficiently and
competed well with his rivals to secure his first podium of the season.
Boullier said that Grosjean could not attain competitive results in the first three rounds of the season because he had some issues with his chassis which were resolved by the team before the fourth round. He expressed his immense gratitude towards the team
for its hard work and asserted that they are confidently looking forward to make the most out of their development process in the season ahead.
“I think it's first a big relief for him,” he said. “He had a not so easy start of the season; yes regularly in the points, but he was not enjoying it as much as he wanted. So we as a team did a great job by working very hard and we went through every detail
including a chassis change but I think we found a couple of things this weekend which help him to drive the car and obviously enjoy driving the car.”
Besides, he said that they the 27-year-old has shown great improvement in his performance in the last race and they expect him to perform even better in the forthcoming races so that they can make their mark stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“That changed his world. You could see Romain in the race enjoying overtaking and that's the Romain we like,” he added.
