Eric Boullier asserts he has full confidence in his drivers – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has expressed his confidence that their drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean will stay in the team in the next season.
Boullier said that other contenders should not waste their time in attracting Raikkonen and Grosjean to join them in the coming year as both the drivers will continue to race with their current team.
It has been recently reported that Ferrari is very much interested in replacing their struggling driver, Felipe Massa with either the Finn or the Frenchman of the Enstone based team.
However, Boullier has said that they are fully confident that their drivers are going to stay in the team for the next year while he said that the pair has an amazing future. Moreover, he said that they are extremely pleased with the performance of the team
in the season so far while he praised the skills of their drivers.
“I can understand why other teams would be interested,” he said. “Both Kimi and Romain are performing well this season. For Kimi, it's like he's never been away. Romain is natural talent, and improving at very rapid rate. It's great to see interest from
teams, but to be honest they're probably wasting time. There is no reason for Kimi or Romain to leave, I think they will both enjoy very successful futures with us.”
In addition, he said that their objective is to perform even better than the previous year and to keep on making some sound improvements in their pace so as to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship fight.
“Our target is same; to be better than last year,” he added. “However, if we continue to show strong pace at every race then maybe we will revise our ambitions!”
At present, Lotus are standing at third place in the constructors’ championship with 192 points. Furthermore, they are ahead of Ferrari and are just a point behind their main rival, McLaren.
Above and beyond, they surely stand amongst the most competent contenders in this season and it will be interesting to see how they show up after the mid-season break.
