Eric Boullier believes Kimi Raikkonen can fight for the 2012 championship – Formula 1 news
Eric Boullier team principal of Lotus believes that Kimi Raikkonen can fight for the championship if he gets a good car and does not miss any opportunity.
He said that he believes in himself that Raikkonen can fight for the title. He added that it is up to them to give him a good car and do not miss any opportunity. Besides, he said that the Finnish driver does not miss most of the opportunities.
Boullier said, “I believe in myself that he can fight for the title definitely. It is up to us to give him a good car and not miss any opportunity, but Kimi does not miss much.”
Furthermore, he said that if he makes it to the podium every weekend, he will be in a position to fight for the championship title. He added that Raikkonen has attained three podiums in the last four races he has started.
“If you are scoring podiums every weekend then he is going to be in the position to fight for the title. He has three podiums in the last four races and even if he does not have the best car, he is still right there,” the team principal added.
He said that even if he could not have the best car even then he is still there.
Boullier said that the performance of the Finnish rider at the Belgian Grand Prix should be appreciated because his fight with Michael Schumacher of Mercedes was impressive. He further said that Raikkonen was very serious at Spa and did not miss any opportunity.
“He was very serious, and he did not miss any opportunity,” he added.
Raikkonen attained third grid position and made it to the podium at the third place in race at Spa. He currently has 131 championship points and holds 4thposition. He is 33 points behind the championship leader Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, who currently has
164 championship points.
Let’s see if he is able to come up to the expectations of Eric Boullier by making it to the title or not.
