Eric Boullier believes Lotus still have got room for improvement – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that they still have got room for improvement while he expressed his delight over the performance of his team in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far.
At present, the Enstone based team is standing at third position in the constructors’ championship with 192 points. Moreover, they have performed tremendously well in the season until now and are ahead of their main rival, Ferrari.
Furthermore, they have been deemed as one of the most competitive contender in this year’s championship battle with their extremely talented and experienced drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.
Even though, Boullier said that he is very much pleased with the performance of his team in the first half of the season. Nonetheless, he said that they still need to keep on making the substantial developments so as to fight for the championship title.
“I think we can all be satisfied with what we've achieved in the first half of the season; especially coming off the back of a difficult 2011,” he said. “It's a testament to the skill and determination of everyone at Enstone that we've produced a great car
which seems to be getting better as the season progresses and we hope this continues. That said, I can't ignore the points we've lost in a lot of different ways and there is a big margin for improvement through the rest of the year.”
In addition, he said that they are aiming to close the gap to the contender in the front which includes McLaren who are just a point ahead of them.
Although, Red Bull Racing are leading the constructors’ rankings have a strong lead over the teams behind them and have been considered as the most favourite in the title chase. Nevertheless, nothing can be projected about the season ahead and it will be
very difficult for the Milton Keynes based team to maintain their lead in the forthcoming races.
Above and beyond, it will be extremely appealing to see how all the rivals come up in the Belgian Grand Prix which is going to be held at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
