Eric Boullier believes Romain Grosjean can build on his performance in Bahrain – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that their driver, Romain Grosjean can build on his inspiring performance in the 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix and can keep
the momentum going in the season ahead.
Grosjean took a very struggling start to this season and failed to score competitive points for his team in the first three rounds. However, he made a striking
comeback in the fourth race held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir and secured an incredible third podium finish behind his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen and the race winner, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Boullier said that the Frenchman faced some problems with his car due to which he couldn’t attain good results during the start of the season, but they managed
to make some essential changes in his car after the Chinese GP with which he delivered a remarkable performance in the last race.
Furthermore, the 39-year-old said that the French driver has gained a lot of confidence after the Bahrain GP and now he can surely perform well in the forthcoming
races.
“If you look at the season so far, except for the car issue, he didn't have troubles," said Boullier. "He was having good starts, good first laps and good overtaking
manoeuvres. So I think he is okay now.”
“But Bahrain was a big relief. He put a lot of effort in to rebuild himself after 2012, and it is now paying off. He had a frustrating first three races, but he
can now build on this and keep the momentum,” he said.
In addition, he admired his team for making the necessary changes in Grosjean’s car so that he could perform better in the fourth round.
“But the team did a good job and we found a couple of things that made Romain happy with his car,” he added.
He also said that they are looking forward to make the significant step-ups in their car so as to compete well with their rivals in the approaching races.
It will be very interesting to see how the Enstone based squad perform in the season ahead.
