Eric Boullier believes Romain Grosjean still needs time to develop – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that their driver, Romain Grosjean still needs some time to develop as a competent driver as he has never got a perfect chance to prove his potential before this season.
Boullier said that although Grosjean has participated in seven grands prix couple of years ago, however, he has not yet been able to get the real opening to flourish. Therefore, he said that according to him, the French driver is taking part in his first
season.
Nevertheless, he said that the youngster is learning from his mistakes and trying his best to improve his performance in the forthcoming races.
“Romain is still building himself up. Even if he did seven races two years ago, he never had a real chance to blossom, so for me he is still very much in his first year. He is making mistakes of course because he is a youngster. But the good news is that
he never repeats a mistake! He is learning, listening and getting stronger with every race,” he said.
In addition, he said that they have been assessing Grosjean’s performance after each and every race and especially in which he struggled a little bit so as to make the necessary rectifications for his mistakes in order to boost up his morale for the upcoming
races.
“We have all seen him have very good weekends, but we have also seen weekends where the results have not been as Romain or anyone in the team would have wanted,” he added.
Presently, Grosjean is standing at 8th place in the drivers’ championship with 61 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and is behind Jenson Button of McLaren.
Though, he retired in four of the first ten races, nonetheless, he has performed credibly well in the season so far and has secured two podium finishes.
Meanwhile, the Enstone based team is at 4th position in the constructors’ rankings with 159 points. Over and above, they are feeling quite positive for the 2012 Hungarian GP and are aiming to score some important points in Budapest.
