Eric Boullier believes Romain Grosjean will learn his lesson from race suspension – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that their driver, Romain Grosjean will definitely learn his lesson from one race ban which he will face due to the collision caused by him in the Belgian Grand Prix.
Grosjean became the cause of a major accident at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps when he drifted into McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton’s car at turn one of the first lap. Resultantly, Hamilton took off the back of Sergio Perez of Sauber who hit Fernando Alonso
of Ferrari. Eventually, all the four drivers had to take retirement and failed to pocket any points.
Afterwards, the race stewards penalised the French driver with one race suspension as he breached the rules and regulations regarding the race which could have resulted in severe injuries.
Besides, Boullier expressed that their youngster will take a lesson from his mistake in the previous race and said that they are positive about his future in the sport.
Furthermore, he defended Grosjean and said that although the Frenchman was part for the incidents that have happened in the past but he was not the only one who should be held responsible.
“Obviously the penalty is done to make people understand what they did. So the penalty can help him learn to do better in the future and I am happy about that,” Boullier said. “He was not responsible for seven incidents. He was involved in seven incidents,
which is different.”
“But obviously being in the wrong place is not good; and that means we have to keep working and talking, which is more talking I think, about the reason why he is in the wrong place,” he said.
Nonetheless, he said that Grosjean is a member of their team and they will provide every support for him in the season ahead.
“He is part of the team, he should be there and that is it,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the Enstone based team is going to come up with their test driver, Jerome d’Ambrosio in the race at Monza and are hoping to attain good points with an aim to make their mark stronger in the championship fight.
