Eric Boullier describes Vitaly Petrov’s move in Malaysian GP as ‘terrifying’ – Formula 1 news
Recent reports have revealed that Renault team Principal Eric Boullier has described Vitaly Petrov’s move in the Malaysian Grand Prix as ‘terrifying.’
He also mentioned that it was a horrific move, as the car jumped very high at turn 8 near the end of the Malaysian GP.
On the other hand, Petrov expressed his thoughts about his shunt and said that may be the rubber marbles on the circuit have contributed towards his stunning exit from the Formula 1 Sepang race.
He admitted that he still does not understand what he did on Sunday, but it is a fact that corner of the circuit was very difficult. Moreover, he said it was very hard to win so much on that corner.
He appreciated the good work of the tyres and added that they really helped him to show his fastest laps during the race.
He went on to say, “I think I picked up just a little bit of rubber, and as soon as you take one piece of rubber, you have a little bit of understeer. I think I had this little bit of understeer and then I went wider and wider. You should be able to come
back to the track there, so I just kept going – but then I hit the big bump.”
He further added that the shunt was not scary, but these types of bumps could have become a big crash during the race.
The team principal commented on this high bump and said, “It was just one of those things, but it was bad enough. When I saw the steering column in his hands I thought something had gone badly wrong. But when I saw how high he was flying, I understood why.
He did a very good job to keep the car under control with no steering.”
Renault were happy with Nick Heidfeld’s result in the Malaysian Grand Prix. They admitted that he really worked hard over the race and made an impressive run for his team.
The competition is becoming tougher, as the season is moving towards the most challenging races of the 2011 calendar.
