Eric Boullier hopes Renault will do better in upcoming Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Renault principal Eric Boullier hopes his team will do better in the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, which will begin from October 7, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
Boullier said that for the Japanese race weekend, they expect to return to the level of performance which they saw in the 2011 Belgium and Italian Grands Prix.
He talked about the upcoming Grand Prix and added that their aim will be to focus on getting both of their R31 cars into qualifying round 3 at the Suzuka circuit this weekend.
Talking to reporters, Boullier commented, “It's very simple. Part of what were Steve's responsibilities will be taken over by Alan Permane, who is now Track Operations Director. In addition, John Wickham is part of our team and further changes will be announced
shortly. I expect this transition to be very smooth.”
He went on to mention, “We've seen so many amazing races there. I still remember, as a teenager, waking up early to watch the battling between Prost and Senna on TV at the end of the 80's. The fans in Suzuka are quite incredible, too. Bruno is very popular
there, so he will have quite a lot of autographs to sign!”
The Enstone-based outfit principal further stated that Suzuka is one of the quicker tracks in the sport and therefore, he is hopeful of getting better results from there.
He also discussed about the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix and mentioned that they have been unable to perform strongly on the grid throughout the Singapore race weekend due to an unsupportive role of their R31 car.
He discussed both of their drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna’s performance in Singapore. He said that Senna is learning fast since his first race with them in the 2011 Formula 1 season. In addition, Boullier stated that Petrov has improved in the ongoing
season since 2010. He has scored 34 points during the races until now and is placed at the ninth place in the drivers’ championship after 14 rounds of the season.
Let’s see how both of the drivers Senna and Petrov manage the last stages of the 2011 F1 season.
