Eric Boullier insists Lotus must strike back in the season ahead – Formula 1 News
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier, has said that they need to strike back in the season ahead after facing immense difficulties in the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen of the Enstone based squad could only score one point in the Monaco GP because of his collision with Sergio Perez of McLaren. On the other hand, his teammate, Romain Grosjean, failed to score even a single point
in the preceding race as he was retired due to his collision with Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso. Resultantly, the Frenchman received a ten-place grid penalty for the next race for his harsh driving style.
Boullier has said that despite losing some crucial points in the championship after the previous race, they are positively looking forward to perform well in the season ahead. In addition, he said that they have proven their potential
in every kind of circumstances in the season so far and can surely achieve more in the upcoming races with their competent car.
“As long as Monaco was just a minor blip - and there's nothing to suggest that it wasn't - there's no evidence to suggest we can't return to consistently strong performances and be back in the reckoning for big points,” Lotus team
principal said. “One bad race in nineteen doesn't define your Championship; we just need to ensure that we don't have another weekend like Monaco.”
“Despite the negatives of the result however, there are positives. Once more our car was competitive at a very different venue and we have now shown we can compete on all types of circuit,” he added.
Meanwhile, Raikkonen said that they are not feeling upset over their result in the last race and are aiming to attain competitive results with consistency in the approaching races.
Presently, the British squad are standing at third place in the constructors’ championship with 112 points. Additionally, they are ahead of Mercedes and behind their main rival, Ferrari.
It will be interesting to see how they show up in the Canadian GP which is to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 9, 2013.
