Eric Boullier praises the efforts of his team in the season so far – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has praised the relentless efforts of his team in 2012 Formula 1 season so far and has said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the upcoming races.
Boullier said that they have been trying their best to make the necessary advancements and the considerable preparations so as to improve the pace of their car for the forthcoming races in order to fight for the championship title this year.
“There is certainly no frustration,” he said. “I think we have to be proud of what we achieved so far, and I can only praise the efforts of factory and all the guys. There is no frustration to have it is a new cycle, new drivers, and we knew we cannot have
the perfect style from race one. You always have to improve yourself. Our car was coming from a little bit further back than the others, so it took time to get the package working. But it is nice to have some good expectations.”
The Enstone based team had the most successful pre-season testing programme this year. In addition, they have been deemed as one of the most competitive contenders with their perfect blend of talented and experienced pair of drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain
Grosjean, plus the expert staff.
At present, they are at third place in the constructors’ championship with 108 points. Furthermore, they are 11 points ahead of Ferrari and 25 points behind McLaren.
Meanwhile, Grosjean who secured an incredible second podium finish in the last race is currently at 7th place in the drivers’ championship.
On the other hand, Raikkonen is at 6th position in the drivers’ rankings with 55 points. Moreover, he is just 2 points ahead of his teammate, Grosjean and 12 points behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
It will be important to mention here that the Finnish driver has performed quite convincingly in the season until now. Even though, he struggled with the DRS issue in the Canadian GP held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, however, he is aiming to
strike back in the upcoming races.
