Eric Boullier says Kimi Raikkonen will put pressure on Sebastian Vettel – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that Kimi Raikkonen will put pressure on Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing in the season ahead to make his mark stronger
in the championship fight.
Vettel claimed an incredible victory in the Bahrain Grand Prix after starting from second grid position. On the other hand, Raikkonen also delivered an inspiring
performance and managed to secure second podium finish after setting off from 8th grid slot.
The German driver is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 77 points and has a lead of ten points over the Finn.
Boullier has said that they will provide all the support to their veteran driver to put pressure on the defending champion and to attain competitive results in
the forthcoming races. Besides, he said that the 2007 world champion has got some extraordinary driving skills with which he can compete and beat any of his rivals on track.
“He's [Raikkonen] going to put pressure on Vettel, definitely,” Boullier said. “We will give everything to support him to obviously put the right pressure on him
and force maybe Sebastian to crack under pressure. With everything he's clearly an incredible finisher and nobody can stop him to get another lot of races finished.”
It will be important to mention that the Enstone based squad struggled a lot with their qualifying pace during the last season due to which their driver could not
compete well with their rivals. Nevertheless, they have made some significant progress over this winter and have kicked the season off with one of the most competent cars in the field for which the Frenchman has thanked every member of his team.
In addition, the 39-year-old said that they are looking forward to introduce some more updates in their car to perform even better in the approaching rounds of
the season.
“I have to thank the guys back in Enstone [headquarters] again because they are doing a great job. I know the figures that are coming for the future so the development
of the car is going very well and it's going to be interesting to see and to follow,” he added.
