Eric Boullier says Romain Grosjean has learned his lesson – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that their driver, Romain Grosjean has learned his lesson for his mistake in the Belgian Grand Prix after facing one-race suspension penalty.
Grosjean hit Lewis Hamilton of McLaren in the opening lap of the Belgian GP at the first turn of Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps as he was trying to gain easy positions. Resultantly, Hamilton went onto the backside of Sergio Perez of Sauber and the Frenchman
strike Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Eventually, all the four contenders were retired due to the unpleasant incident.
Later on, the race stewards banned the French driver to take part in the Italian GP and the Enstone based team brought their third driver, Jerome d’Ambrosio as Grosjean’s replacement.
After the preceding race, Boullier said that the 26-year-old has got his lesson and has learned a lot after sitting in the paddock during the last week which will definitely help him in improving his performance in the race ahead. In addition, he said that
Grosjean is eagerly looking forward to perform well in the Singapore GP.
"He will have learned a lot because being in your car you have only one radio in your head," said Boullier. "When you are sitting in the garage and you have both cars then you can learn much more. He has definitely learned his lessons and I know he is extremely
eager to get back in the car in Singapore."
Besides, he said that they are very much positive about the season ahead and hope to come up stronger in the upcoming race as they think that the track conditions will suit them.
"We are optimistic that from Singapore onwards we will be much more competitive due to the circuit layout and updates we have coming, meaning we will be able to score more points in every race," he added.
The British squad surely stands amongst the list of most competent teams in this year’s championship and has certainly got the potential to claim the title. Above and beyond, it will be exciting to see how they show up in the remaining seven races.
