Eric Boullier says Romain Grosjean will return stronger in the Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Team principal of Lotus, Eric Boullier, believes that one-race ban over the Lotus driver Romain Grosjean will prove positive and he will return stronger at the Singapore Grand Prix.
He anticipates that the Lotus driver will exhibit impressive performance over the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Boullier told Autosport.com, “We have spoken a lot about it. And definitely in some way it was best for him. He is going to keep the same speed when he comes back, and I think he will stronger.”
The team principal said that his return will add to the confidence of the Spanish driver and after resolving the issues he expects that Grosjean will perform better.
“He will be even more confident in himself and, having discussed and fixed these issues, he will be better,” he said.
Furthermore, Boullier said that their test driver Jerome D’Ambrosio did a great job over the Belgian circuit. Although he was unable to score any points after the race, the data he registered shows impressive results.
Moreover, the Lotus principal said that D’Ambrosio had lost KERS early in the race, which did not enable him to challenge the cars ahead of him. The Belgian started a raced after 10 months and after such a gap he did a great job with his car.
Grosjean faced a one race penalty by the stewards for being the major cause of the accident at the turn 1 of Spa eliminating three top contenders of the race. The mistake was accepted by the French driver and he later apologised to Fernando Alonso of Ferrari
as he could have been a major victim of the incident.
The severe accident reignited the safety debate in Formula 1 circles to introduce cockpits in the sport. On the other hand, some drivers believe that the glass cockpit will not be useful for the safety of the driver.
Let’s see how careful will the French driver be on the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
