Eric Boullier says everyone in Renault team is working together to do their best – Formula 1
Renault team boss, Eric Boullier, has said that the Renault team is pushing hard to bring out the best in the drivers, Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld. Commenting on injured driver, Robert Kubica, Eric added that Petrov has brought to the table the performance on par with Kubica’s.
Renault team have shown good progress in the opening three races of the 2011 season, despite their ace driver, Kubica, being out of the team.
Eric commented that the team are better off not thinking about the past and should concentrate on the future in the next 16 races of the 2011 season. “With the word 'if' I would be world champion... so I don't want to think about it. Mentally, it is very important for them to feel they can do better and that the team is here to support and give them the tools to do even better,” said Eric.
He further added that after the exclusion of Robert Kubica back in February, Petrov along with Nick have put on a good show in the opening round of the 2011 season. “Robert was clearly in this positive loop, and this is something we have also created with Vitaly. In the case of Nick, he was in a different place, so we have to put him back in this positive loop,” commented Eric.
He further added that the team work is fruitful when everyone is pushing hard to achieve goals. Kubica has been in contact with the team and is giving positive messages to boost the morale of the team.
The Renault team are currently fourth on the constructor’s table with 30 points and have managed to take two podium positions. Both Petrov and Nick have a good feeling about the car and are showing speeds which are comparable to the likes of Ferrari and McLaren.
A few crashes in the opening rounds of the races have hindered the performance of the Enstone based outfit, but Renault has managed to be up a challenge on the grid for some of the bigger and better teams.
The next race is due in Istanbul and a few more upgrades in the Renault car, R31 are expected.
