Eric Boullier says he is sure Renault will introduce a good car for 2012 F1 season – Formula 1 news
Renault principal Eric Boullier has said that he is confident the team will introduce a good car for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Boullier added that at this point they understand why they could not earn maximum points with their R31 car so far. In addition, he stated that he is sure they will deliver a competitive package to their drivers next year.
Apart from that, the team principal told the media that they recently upgraded their wind tunnel in order to improve their R31 car for the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix. Boullier mentioned that he believes his team will cover much of their gap from the front
runners in the rest of the 2011 Formula 1 season, as he said that they have the potential to do it.
Boullier commented, “To be transparent with you, my first little happiness this year was that we were capable of producing a car at the beginning of the season that was able to fight for podiums. That means that at home we have enough engineering and know-how
to produce something good.”
He went on to say, “And, on top of this, we have isolated different parameters that will make us better. I don't know how much they will be worth, but two tenths [of a second] maybe. They will also change the way that we have to set up the car, so they could
be worth even more.”
Renault are hopeful of getting back strongly on the grid in the Singapore race weekend, which will take place on September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Boullier further added that he is confident the new upgrades will help both of the drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna during the Singapore race and they receive better results from them as well.
The Enstone-based outfit is targeting to beat Mercedes GP in the championship battle. They are at the fifth place behind the Petronas-sponsored team with 70 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see whether Renault manage to beat Mercedes team in the rest of the ongoing season.
