Eric Boullier says making a clean start at Korean Grand Prix was a relief for him – Formula 1 news
Team principal of Lotus believes that making a clean start at the Korean Grand Prix was encouraging for Romain Grosjean.
He told that Grosjean has been under a lot of pressure after being the prime cause of incident at the Suzuka circuit however his performance at the Yeongam circuit will add to his confidence.
Grosjean has been the prime cause of several accidents in the current season. Last time it was with Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing. The team principal of Lotus believes that the media coverage of incidents has affected the confidence of the Lotus driver.
Boullier told Autosport.com, “When you see the amount of coverage he had since Suzuka, the pressure on his shoulders was very, very high, so definitely it is a big relief for him and us.”
He believes that it was not an easy task for the French driver to complete the race cleanly after the media coverage he has received due to the incident he has caused yet he managed completing clean race however the race was completed very cautiously because
he needs to re-gather all of the confidence.
Boullier believes that Grosjean met his targets for the Korean GP and will be able to manage the stress he had due to his objectionable driving, lately. The clean race will reduce the stress and he will be able to drive the car with confidence.
In addition, he believes that it becomes hard to recover after the warning that same mistake should not be repeated.
“You know everybody is watching you and you have been warned you cannot do it again, so it is hard. But the way he handled it proved he could do it and that he has strength to do it. Now can be rebuild his fighting spirit quietly,” the team principal added.
Grosjean has accepted his mistakes over the circuit and has apologised the drivers who were directly affected. Let’s see how finishes the current season when there are 4 grands prix remaining. It is very important for him to make clean finishes in order
to keep his confidence on the circuit.
