Eric Boullier still surprised with Romain Grosjean’s performance in Montreal – Formula 1 news
Lotus team principal, Eric Boullier has said that he is still feeling surprised with the performance of their driver, Romain Grosjean in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Grosjean secured a remarkable second podium finish after taking a start from 7thgrid position in the last race. Furthermore, he showed impressive pace during the ending laps in which he overtook the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and the defending
champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
It will be interesting to note that although he is taking part in his first full season in the sport, however, the French driver has managed to deliver amazing performances until now.
Besides, he is currently at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 53 points. Additionally, he is 8 points ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren and just 2 points behind his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.
Besides, Boullier expressed that he is very much delighted with the performance of Grosjean in the season so far.
“He keeps surprising me, because he has the same characteristics as we always knew he had,” Boullier told AUTOSPORT. “He is a hard worker; he listens, and he works a lot with his engineers. But it is not only work, because he learns from the data, from advice,
from everything. What is I think is very promising is that he has the pace and as he has shown in Canada he can do a full race. He did 45 laps on these tyres, with being very consistent in not destroying them. He is learning and learning fast.”
Contrarily, Raikkonen could only secure 8th place finish after setting off from 12thgrid position in the Canadian GP. Nevertheless, Boullier said that they are ready to provide the Finnish driver everything which he may need in order to improve his performance
in the upcoming races.
Above and beyond, he said that they are trying their best to make the essential advancements and the necessary preparations to enhance the pace of their car for the approaching races in order to fight for the championship title this year.
