Eric Bristow becomes part of Shetland Masters event
Veteran darts player and five-time champion of darts, Eric Bristow, has finalised his plans of becoming a part of SRT/Simpson & Ward Masters.
The event, which is scheduled to take place on the 14th of July, will also allow top players from the PDC circuit to take part.
All the players from the faction appearing in the championship will travel to Shetland for this purpose. The event has been decided to take place at Clickimin.
Bristow, or ‘Crafty Cockney’ as he is known, will serve as the host for the corporate night matches. These encounters will take place on Friday, just one day before the main event gets underway.
Furthermore, all the matches will be supervised with the best and most reliable team of referees. These include Russ Bray and George Noble.
According to the manager of Clickimin, Robert Geddes, “I’m delighted with the line-up and the additions, with Russ, George and Eric coming”.
He added, “Each year is a challenge to secure the top players in the world as their calendars are getting more congested with ranking tournaments”.
He further said that they are still in negotiations regarding the changes in terms of the format that they need to incorporate in the event.
Nevertheless, he assured that people and darts fans will be provided an excellent darts competition.
Furthermore, emphasis is being placed on the feature of increasing the number of tournaments through ensuring that more people are willing to take part in the different matches of darts being organised in the event.
At the same time, the organising committee is also looking to ensure the participation of players who can prove to be an effective challenge when standing with Phil Taylor on the oche.
The Power, at present, is in perfect form. This can easily be manifested from the form he has demonstrated in some of the recent matches that he has played at the Premier League.
Following a superb comeback in his opening encounter against Adrian Lewis, the 15-time champion is all set to complete his hat-trick.
Robert is confident that the type of competition Taylor will face at Shetland will definitely testify for the challenge and competition he will be facing at the event.
