Eric Change eases into quarter-final at XXII Pan Am Junior Championships – Badminton News
Eric Chang, an emerging badminton player from USA, showed a great performance in Boy’s Singles U13 category and eased into quarter-final stage at the XXII Pan Am Junior Championships Individual Event 2013 on Thursday, July 25,
in Mexico.
In the round-of-16 clash, the in-form Eric played flawless badminton and easily overpowered Venezuela’s Keiber Penalver in a completely lopsided way by taking just 22 minutes.
On paper it was an interesting contest as both contestants were un-seeded in the main draw. However, the impressive Eric outclasses his challenger without facing any trouble. He was perfect in his playing strategy that enabled
him to finish up the battle in straight games with an unbelievable 21-3 and 21-9 score on the board.
On the contrary, Keiber was shocked while receiving such a harsh treatment from his opponent. He could not play positive badminton and eventually went down against Eric without creating a strong impact on the local crowd.
In the first game, Eric did not take much time in getting familiar with the playing conditions. He started to gear up his speed and occupied the driving seat without any considerable effort.
The positive approach and incredible speed of Eric created the huge difference between both contestants. He was perfect in the execution of attacking shots and stayed ahead with a comfortable margin until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the aggressive USA shuttler continued his gallant run in the arena. He did not let the pace of rallies down at any stage. The aggression and impressive speed of Eric did the damage to Keiber. He grabbed
the first game with a stunning 21-3 score on the board.
In the following set, Keiber lifter up his level and played slightly better badminton. He took the bird early this time but again failed to dominate the game as his opponent was on a different level. Until the break, he was lagging
behind on the board.
After the mid-game break, Eric stayed on the right track without any considerable effort and he easily won the set with a one-sided 21-9 total on the score board.
