The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Belgium-c2850 international has always reiterated his love for the Canebiere club but it seems that love won’t be enough for him to make a return to the Velodrome
Latest rumours in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127. A few weeks back, the French tactician said that he has two years left on his contract but never really gave a clear idea as to whether he will
stay at the club or not.
Under contract until 2014, the former Juventus manager knows that he might not be able to help the club regain its lost status with so much financial constraints. The club is looking to sell a few star players to make sure they don’t record a huge deficit
by the end of fiscal 2012/2013.
Knowing that Deschamps can bid au Revoir any time, Les Phoceens management is studying other options. Reports claim that current sporting director Jose Anigo, who never enjoyed a great relation with Deschamps, could be handed the reins of the squad next
summer if DD jumps ship.
The likes of Baup, Antoine Kombouare, Frederic Antonetti and Eric Gerets have also been briefly mentioned. Eric Gerets is the fans’ favourite to once again grace the field of Velodrome. The Belgian managed Les Phoceens for a few years and despite not being
able to win any silverware, is still respected in the area.
Le Provence claims that Marseille might even have contacted Eric Gerets but the current coach of the Moroccan national teams could have politely declined the offer. Though his position as the manager of The Lions of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Atlas-c38538 may be delicate, the Belgian
is not really keen on making a return to the club so quickly.
The 58-year-old wants securities which OM cannot give. If Deschamps leave, Les Phoceens need to appoint a replacement as soon as possible. For now, rumours claim that making Jose Anigo the coach of the club once again could be a great idea.
The sporting director would be a cheaper option and would be available immediately. Furthermore, Anigo managed Marseille between 2001 and 2005 so once cannot say that he would be a big gamble. Marseille reached the final of the UEFA Cup in 2004 under Anigo
so he might be able to repeat those antics if given the chance.
