Eric Gordon prefer Phoenix Suns over New Orleans Hornets - NBA Update
New Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon has revealed that he does not want to come back to the Big Easy.
Gordon became a restricted free agent this season, after he turned down a $50 million, 4 - year extension from Hornets. He has reportedly agreed to a 4 year - $58 million offer with Phoenix Suns and has shown his desire to join
the Desert city franchise, despite the fact that the Hornets can match the Suns offer and retain him.
Gordon believes that the Suns have a clear future plan, one in which he can contribute a lot;
"Phoenix just showed a lot more interest, overall, and definitely in how they negotiated," Gordon said. "I don't know what New Orleans' plans are for me. There are no negotiations right now."
Hornets are the only franchise that can offer him a contract up to $79 million stretched over the time span of 5 years, but for Gordon that does not seem to be much of a lure. Gordon averaged 20.6 points and 3.4 assists in the
2011-12 season and the Hornets have billed him to be player around which they want to start the re-building process.
But the Indiana native thinks otherwise. Ever since Hornets drafted Austin Rivers with the 10th pick, Gordon has been asking questions about his future.
"They drafted another shooting guard, a combo guard like me, which tells me they have another plan,"
The team also drafted Anthony Davis with their 1st pick and now look set to get on the right track after finishing the last regular season with a 21-45.
The Hornets have clearly indicated that they will match any offer put forward to Gordon. The player was a prize possession in the block buster trade last season, which transferred Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The deal was reportedly about to fall apart because the Clippers were hesitant in adding Gordon to the mix. The Hornets remained adamant about wanting Gordon and they will certainly not let any franchise take away their prized
possession that easily, even if Gordon wants so.
