Eric Hedlin seizes Men’s 800m freestyle gold: Day four - 2012 Canada Swimming Cup
Eric Hedlin of Island Swimming seized gold medal of the Men’s 800m freestyle on day four of the 2012 Canada Swimming Cup in Montreal on Sunday, July 8.
Hedlin demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the sixteen-lap freestyle event as he dominated his way to the top of medal rostrum for gold medal.
With his impeccable efforts in the distant freestyle event, Hedlin enjoyed a comfortable lead over his challengers and made his way to the finishing wall for first position with the timing of 8 minutes and 18.00 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Robert Wise of London Aquatic Club, who stayed 8.39 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and finished his swim in second best place by touching the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 26.39 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Charles C Barry of Badger Swim Club, who stayed nearly 3.50 seconds behind and reached the finishing end for bronze medal by producing a time of 8 minutes and 29.85 seconds.
Similarly, the third position holder was chased by Paul G Soley of Berkeley Aquatic Club, who stayed almost 2.70 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and settled on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer with an effort of 8 minutes and 32.52 seconds.
Fifth position of the discipline was secured by Aimeson King of Island Swimming, who stayed two body lengths behind and touched the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 35.79 seconds.
The 20-year-old King was chased by Adam Vowles of Hamilton Aquatic Club, who stayed 0.21 seconds slower from his former finisher and submitted a time of 8 minutes and 36.00 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh fastest spot of the race was secured by Joseph P Eiden of Badger Swim Club, who remained 1.67 seconds apart and clocked a timing of 8 minutes and 37.67 seconds.
Eiden was trailed by Antoine Villeneuve of Club de Natation C.S.Q., who ended his swim in eighth best place with the timing of 8 minutes and 39.85 seconds.
In addition, Hedlin expressed happiness over his accomplishment in the 800m discipline.
