The Sochaux coach has expressed his disappointment after his side lost at Parc des Princes on Saturday, but is remaining upbeat about the team's chances
Defeat against the Parisiens has left FC Sochaux with just 6 points in the league after 7 games, and things aren’t looking good for Les Lionceaux at the moment.
With just two wins in the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, Sochaux are 17th in the league and the defeat against the capital club is daunting for the players’ morale.
FCSM’s coach, Eric Hely is far from pleased with the result but has refused to blame his players for the loss against the Parisiens.
While talking to reporters, the 47-year-old stated that the early goal by PSG pushed his side on the back foot, and the second goal literally killed the game.
Praising his players, the coach said that Sochaux played without fear and they played attacking football. However, it wasn’t enough against a team like Paris Saint-Germain, who are in splendid form at the moment.
“We conceded a goal too early and then a second against the run of play and that pretty much killed the game off; my players were brave but were found lacking a bit.”
Hely stated that against a team like PSG, margin of error is very little, and his side wasn’t up to the task. The coach said that Les Parisiens were really dangerous on the counterattack and they deserved to win the game on Saturday.
“Against PSG, you think you are in control and then they hit you on the counterattack. The biggest danger against them is when you have the ball.”
Eric Hely rates PSG in high regards and believes that Carlo Ancelotti’s side is already stronger than the rest of the teams in the league.
“They punish you for every mistake; you think you can get back into the game, but in fact, you can't. They have a talented team and they are also disciplined and physically, they look, potentially, stronger than the rest."
