The FC Sochaux-Montbeliard coach believes that Les Lionceaux tried their best to get something out of Wednesday’s game but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 were too strong as compared to his side
The club from Montbeliard came second best against Les Merlus in the midweek at Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Moustoir. However, coach, Eric Hely has refused to blame his players for the loss as he is of the view that Sochaux gave everything on the pitch and they were unlucky
to return empty handed.
While talking to reporters, the coach stated that Sochaux wanted to get a positive result on Wednesday but it just wasn’t their day. Talking about his side’s performance on the pitch, the boss said that FCSM played quite well in the opening stages of the
game but they didn’t create many goalscoring opportunities in the first half.
Sochaux created more opportunities after the break but were unable to take full advantage from that. The boss feels that his side lacked the cutting edge in the final third and despite controlling the game in the second half, Les Lionceaux failed to find
the back of the net for which they were punished in the end.
"Our first half wasn't bad, but it was in the second half that we created our best openings, strangely. We lacked cutting edge in the final third before the break, despite the fact Lorient looked off-colour,” the former Chamois Niortais player told reporters
at a press conference.
Talking about the first goal his side conceded, Hely said that after the first goal, Lorient took control of the game and played with more confidence out there on the pitch. The boss added that Sochaux had their moments but they failed to get back in the
game.
“The first goal was the turning point. It picked up Lorient, who looked a lot more dynamic, and helped their quick passing game.”
Despite the defeat, Eric Hely is not blaming his players as he feels that it was a better performance from his side and they tried their best but were denied by an impressive Lorient side.
“I've nothing to reproach my players, they gave everything."
