FC Sochaux-Montbeliard managed to surprise everyone as they defeated Ligue 1 leaders 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at the Stade Auguste Bonal, leaving Hely proud of his team. The relegation-threatened club' coach hopes that
the team can build on this performance and ensure their place in Ligue 1 next season
Eric Hely feels more than satisfied as his team; FC Sochaux-Montbeliard defeated Paris Saint-Germain at their home ground. The Frenchman finds it a confidence boosting result for Les Lionceaux, who have been struggling at the bottom
of the table throughout the season. With the club earning their seventh victory this season, they’re only three points above the relegation zone.
The former FC Sochaux defender believes that he had only two strategic options, counter-attack or attack. The coach opted to attack, which eventually rewarded Les Lionceaux for their efforts. The French tactician explained the
situation:
"When you take on PSG, there are two options: to defend and counter-attack, or attack. We chose the second option, and I'm happy the players were rewarded for their efforts. I think the difference was our enthusiasm and team spirit.”
Hely acknowledged that the French outfit was dominated by their opponents towards the end of the game. But he wasn’t surprised, as Les Parisiens have the firepower to overpower them considering their quality. He said:
“We suffered at the end of the game, but that's normal given the quality in the PSG side.”
This is only the third time that the French outfit has scored three goals in a game, winning every game in which they scored that much. Sebastian Roudet, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giovanni-c14985 Sio and Cedric Bakambu scored for Les Lionceaux in the game, leaving
the coach content with his side’s progress. Hely said:
“It's our best performance of the season, both physically and technically. We've progressed since the winter break and that we're on the right track.”
The 48-year-old hopes that Sochuax would be able to replicate this result in their upcoming games, as they still are 14 points short of securing themselves a place in the Championnat next season. The coach stated:
“Now, we mustn't rest on our laurels. It's just one victory, and we need at least 14 points to stay up."
