The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 striker is pleased with his decision to join the Bundesliga outfit and praised his team’s return to form since the winter break.
Maxim Choupo-Moting has expressed his satisfaction on joining FSV Mainz from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 last summer. He mentioned that it was a perfect decision to sign for Thomas Tuchel’s side and is delighted on becoming a first team regular.
The striker spent four years with Hamburg’s senior side but managed a mere 23 league appearances, netting two goals in return. He spent one of those four years with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 on loan, where he managed 25 first team appearances.
Maxim admitted that he was continuously frustrated with his bench role at the Imtech Arena. He showed his gratitude to the Mainz bosses for acknowledging his talent and providing him with a chance to perform at the club.
Out of the whole squad, the Cameroonian is the only player to have appeared in every single league game for Mainz so far this season. While addressing Bundesliga.de, the 22-year-old further added:
“The move to Mainz was exactly the right decision for me. Right from the off, the coach and everyone else here showed the kind of faith in me that every player needs to perform at his best and develop positively. “
On the other hand, the attacker accepted that the players at the club took long to settle down as the O-Fives were going through a transition phase. Mainz recruited 10 new players prior to the start of this season who understandably
took time to gel together.
“It wasn't a case of pressing buttons, we've just kept working in a focused and consistent way. We're profiting now from all the good work everyone has put in training since the start of the season. After all the personnel upheaval
last summer, the team was clearly going to have to gel all over again and we knew that process might take a bit of time,“ Maxim concluded.
Mainz are currently 11th in the league standings with 30 points and will next be in action against FC Augsburg on Saturday, March 17, at the SGL arena.
