Eric Molina raring to fight Chris Arreola – Boxing news
Acknowledging the fact that Chris Arreola, WBC’s No. 1 contender, can be a tough opponent, Eric Molina wants to go for it as soon as possible.
Eric also known as Drummer Boy has always taken pride in calling himself the true champion of Rio Grande Valley, and he is now determined to prove it by fighting the fiercest boxers out there.
The bout between Eric Molina and Chris Arreola is scheduled to be held at the American Bank Centre in Corpus Christi on February 18, 2012 and will be televised by Showtime. Eric, of Rio Grande Valley,  who has 18 wins, 1 loss and 14 knockouts in his portfolio,
has said that he is not afraid to face Chris, who hails from Escondido with 34 wins, 2 losses and 29 knockouts in his bag.
Don King Promotions signed Eric in 2011 for the bout. Winner of the fight will go on to face Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine, who has bagged 56 wins, 3 losses and 49 knockouts throughout his career. Klitschko is currently the WBO, IBF, WBA and IBO heavyweight
champion. Therefore, whoever wins between the two will get the chance to go for the milestone fight soon.
Initially, the Molina-Arreola bout was being planned for December and Molina was quite enthusiastic about it. However, the change in schedule baffled the champion.
He recently said, “This fight is very important because it will tell me where I’m at. If I win, it’ll mean greater things ahead for me. If I lose, I’ll know that I had my shot. But I don’t plan to lose.”
Eric Molina got worldwide public attention after he scored probably his biggest win on August 13, in Las Vegas, against Warren Browning who had 14 wins, 2 losses and 9 knockouts behind his back. Eric had technically knocked him out. He became known for his
technical boxing skills that, according to some critics, are hard to find these days.
Now, Molina is all geared up for the upcoming fight to show his fans that he is larger than what they think he is.
He remarked, “This is it guys, all or nothing. I’m more focused than ever. Something is telling me I may have to visit h**l to get myself ready for Arreola. May God be with me.”
Such comments by Eric have brought the fight in the limelight with many former boxers and judges waiting to see what he has on offer.
