Eric Pang defeats Dieter Domke to enter into Men’s Singles round-of-16 in 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix
Netherlands’ top seed, Eric Pang, lives up to the expectations as he secured his place in the Men’s Singles round-of-16 after defeating Germany’s Dieter Domke in the second round of the 2011 Dutch Open Grand Prix, at Almere, Netherlands, on Wednesday, October
12.
Currently, Eric is placed at number 39 in the Men’s Singles world rankings conducted by the Badminton World Federation. He is also the fifth seed in the main draw of the Dutch Open. The local shuttler made the crowd happy by winning his match against Domke
after working extra hard for three games.
Dutch shuttler lost the first set with a reasonable margin, as he failed to find his flow. Nevertheless, he bounced back to win the second game with a tight margin. In the deciding game, Pang thrashed his German opponent by playing on a higher level of the
game. He emerged as the winner of the match after playing wonderful badminton for 47 minutes.
The start of the match was interesting when the local shuttler paced up the rallies. However, his German rival was playing with precision and remained successful in setting up a good lead in the first half of the set.
After the break, Pang tried to level the score but failed, as Domke was in complete control of the game. The Dutch lost the first game with a margin of 17-21.
The following set was breath-taking when both men remained close throughout the set. They employed attacking style of play and missed no chance to finish off the rallies. The score remained tight until the end of the second game when the local shuttler managed
to play better badminton and won the game by a 21-19 score on the board.
The deciding set was surprisingly one-sided when Pang set up an early lead and maintained it in the whole set. He played positive game and won it with a remarkable difference of 21-12.
Pang emerged as victorious in three games with a margin of 17-21, 21-19 and 21-12.
