Eric Pang qualifies for pre quarter-finals of Canadian International Challenge – Badminton news
Nederland’s Eric Pang alarmed all the contestants of Ottawa Canadian International Challenge by stretching his winning streak to reserve a pre quarter-final berth on Wednesday, June 26, 2013.
He locked horns with a native shuttler Andrew D Souza and this encounter prolonged to 40 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 9-21, 21-15 and 21-11. Though, the Dutch campaigner lost the opening game but he managed to tip the scale in his favour
in ending two games.
On the other hand, Andrew failed to capitalise his first set win and crashed out of the home event in a disgraceful manner.
In the opening game, the Canadian shuttler amazed everyone by showing an unbeatable craft on court. He did not give his higher ranked rival enough time to get settled and confounded him with an intensive attack.
He bagged many valuable points in a row and raised his chances of success. This initial lead helped him in next couple of rallies and he doubled his score before the announcement of break. After the mid-game break, he ruled the court in few back-to-back
rallies and strengthened his grip. This psychological advantage helped him to place an impressive total of 21-9.
However, he failed to go with same flow and surrendered tamely in the following games. This time, Eric Pang employed interesting tactics and won second set of match with distinction.
The Dutch player laid foundation of his success immediately in the beginning and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments. He finished first half of the set with a mountainous figure of 11 and then ruled the court also in latter part of the
game.
Eric kept on moving forward at a steady pace and left his challenger far behind with an overwhelming score of 21-15.
Third set of match was completely a one-sided affair as Eric Pang did not give his competitor even a single chance to proceed. At first, he mounted pressure by registering a convincing total of 11 and then magnified the impact with a concluding margin of
21-11.
Now he will resume his campaign in pre quarter-finals where Andrew Harrison will be his next challenger.
