Eric Pang stamps Yoga Pratama to surge into quarter-finals of 2012 Yonex Dutch Open

Men’s Singles expert Eric Pang continued his successful run in Yonex Dutch Open and qualified for the quarter-finals after thrashing Yoga Pratama on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
This pre quarter-final tussle remained in full swing for 52 minutes as both contenders made every effort to gain access to the round of eight but finally the native shuttler locked the honour with a favourable result of 21-16, 13-21 and 28-26.
Eric Pang, who was seventh seeded player in this tournament, entertained the home crowd with an impressive performance in the opening and closing segments of the showdown.
Meanwhile, the German campaigner failed to live up to the billing in pressure situation and crashed out after facing 1-2 defeat.
The battle heated up in very first game when the local shuttler launched a brisk attack and confined his rival in rear court with five power packed rallies in a row.
Eric did not lose this rhythm and strengthened his grip by placing an indomitable total of 9-4.
He finished first half of the set with 11-7 and then magnified the impact by clinching opening match point with 21-16 score on the board.
However, the story was entirely different in the following game as the suppressed shuttler of previous set managed to rise on his toes and counterbalanced the situation with a commendable effort.
This time Yoga Pratama played with an authoritative approach and gained an early advantage by gathering couple of successive points in the beginning.
His game plan was perfect blend of attack and defence. He set the foundation of his dominance with 7-3 and then capitalised this lead at mid-game break.
Later part of the game saw Yoga at his best as he served notice of his supremacy by ending this crucial set with a notable difference in 21-13 margin.
Third set proved best part of the tussle as both contenders pushed each other in all areas of the court.
They remained close on points table until last shot was played as this competition ended when Eric Pang stole the limelight with 28-26 score.
Now the Dutch campaigner will lock horns with Dmytro Zavadsky and a win will take him into semi-finals of the event.
