Eric Ress pockets Men’s 200m IM gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Eric M Ress of Santa Clara Swim pocketed gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on third day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, July 14.
The 21-year-old Ress outsmarted his fellow swimmers over the finishing end in a comfortable manner as he proved his mettle for the top spot on the medal rostrum for gold medal.
His epic pace placed him in a lead of half body length over his following swimmer as he rushed his way towards the finishing blockade for the crown of the event with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.05 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Dan Wallace of Gator Swim Club, who stayed 0.37 seconds behind and finished second in the discipline by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 05.42 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Carlos T Omana of Metro AC Miami-F, who stayed 0.32 seconds apart and secured bronze medal of the discipline by posting a time of 2 minutes and 06.74 seconds.
Similarly, fourth position of the event was secured by Jean Lui Gomez of Naco-ZZ, who remained three body lengths apart and completed his race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 09.74 seconds.
The 21-year-old Gomez was trailed by Gabriel Pedrao of Unattached-FG, who finished fifth in the 200m discipline by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 10.04 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Youse Alaskari of Davie Nadadores, who stayed 0.47 seconds behind and reported an effort of 2 minutes and 10.51 seconds.
Alaskari remained in a lead of 1.07 seconds over his following swimmer, Nicholas Schwab of Indiana University, who obtained seventh spot of the event by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 11.58 seconds.
Schwab stayed 0.29 seconds faster from Julian Radice of Metro AC Miami-F, who finished eighth in the discipline by hitting the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.87 seconds.
Furthermore, Ress enjoyed his victory in the 200m discipline and stated that he would try to do the same at higher levels of sport.
