Eric Ronda grabs Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – YMCA National Championship
Eric Ronda of Wilton-CT grabbed gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke on last day of the 2012 YMCA National Long Course Championship at Georgia Institute of Technology Aquatics Center on Friday, July 27.
The 18-year-old Ronda served notice of his talent in the two-lap breaststroke discipline. With his immaculate efforts, Ronda remained dominant over his challengers and touched the finishing end for gold medal.
He remained one stroke ahead of his strongest challenger and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 04.38 seconds for gold medal.
The gold medallist was followed by Conner McHugh of Door County-WI, who remained 0.24 seconds behind and ended second in the event by posting a time of 1 minute and 04.62 seconds.
Third finest spot of the event was secured by Zack Warner of Somerset Valley NJ, who was 0.98 seconds slower and hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 05.60 seconds.
Warner remained only 0.15 seconds faster from Matthew Hooper of Rapid Area-MI, who secured fourth position of the discipline by producing an effort of 1 minute and 05.75 seconds.
The 17-year-old Hooper was traced by Gregory Han of Cheshire-CT, who was 0.51 seconds apart and ended fifth in the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 06.26 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed exhausting efforts of Alex Keller of Fayette-IL, who suffered a deficit of only 0.31 seconds and occupied sixth best place of the discipline with the timing of 1 minute and 06.57 seconds.
Keller was trailed by Jacob Limaldi of Ocean County-NJ, who remained 0.16 seconds slower and hit the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 06.73 seconds for seventh position.
Subsequently, Limaldi enjoyed a benefit of half body length over David Morgan of Suncoast-FL, who gained eighth position of the discipline by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 07.21 seconds.
Furthermore, Ronda was extremely happy with his performance in the double lap event and articulated that he would continue his efforts in order to achieve the same at the superior levels of swimming.
