Eric Shanteau snares the Men’s 100m breaststroke title: Speedo Grand Challenge – Swimming News
World champion, Eric Shanteau of the United States of America, has snagged the Men’s 100m breaststroke crown in the 2011 Speedo Grand Challenge, held at William Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, on May 27.
He completed his distance in the corresponding meet in 1 minute and 01.66 seconds. More importantly, he broke his own previous record of 1 minute and 01.49 seconds set in Charlotte, two weeks ago.
The swimmer was immensely excited and pleased with his performance in the 100m breaststroke final. Eric Shanteau is a popular icon in competitive swimming in the United States of America.
Being a professional swimmer, Eric has won many intriguing events in competitive swimming to date.
He won the gold medal in the Men’s 4x100m medley in the 2009 World Championships in Rome. Besides, Shanteau snared one silver and one bronze medal in the Men’s 200m breaststroke and 200m medley finals in that championship.
The American clinched two gold medals in the Men’s 200m and 400m medley events in the 2005 Summer Universiade, held in Izmir.
Damir Dugonjic of Cal Aquatics won the silver medal in the 100m breaststroke final with a sterling time of 1 minute and 02.25 seconds. Andrew Bree of Trojan took home the silver title with a time of 1 minute and 02.54 seconds and Mike Alexandrov of UN-AZ/TROJ
wound up fourth in 1 minute and 02.87 second, in the respective meet.
Noland Koon of Cal Aquatics took the fifth place in the Men’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1 minute and 04.03 seconds, while Nick Ferrif finished sixth in 1 minute and 04.24 second and Sean Mahoney settled seventh in 1 minute and 04.32 seconds.
Martti Aljand of Cal Aquatics earned the eight spot in 1 minute and 04.52 seconds, whereas, Josh Prenot of SMSC grabbed the ninth place in 1 minute and 04.88 seconds and Timothy Ferris of Zimbabwe settled tenth, in 1 minute and 05.24 seconds. Cody Miller
