Eric Steele has come out and backed Anders Lindegaard for a fair chance at Manchester United despite the fact that David De Gea is now a well settled no. 1 at the club as far as goalkeeping positions go. Steele, who is the goalkeeping
coach at Manchester United worked in the past with Edwin Van der Sar and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445 but things have changed at United.
The Red Devils are now focusing on developing David De Gea or Lindegaard as their main options as far as goalkeeping is concerned. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 who arrived from La Liga last season to the English Premier League found it difficult
to cope with the English game at first now since then he has adapted terrifically.
However Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson had dropped De Gea temporarily from the starting eleven and opted to go with Lindegaard until the Danish shot stopper’s season was prematurely ended with an injury. As Manchester United compete in Far
East as a part of their pre-season, Steele has confirmed that the club will give Lindegaard a fair chance to prove himself this season as well.
He said, "David has great potential and wants to be the No.1 here, but while he plays at the Olympics we've got http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in a friendly, and other games in Oslo and Hannover. So Anders will get the chance to stamp his authority
in the United goal and stay in the team."
David De Gea is currently on international duty with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 at the 2012 London Olympics so Lindegaard has a chance to impress Sir Alex Ferguson and co. in the meanwhile.
Steele added, "We knew it wasn't going to be easy for David following a legend like Edwin van der Sar - and that's why we brought in two keepers to replace him, with Anders joining us too. The whole idea was for them to share the
season.”
