Eric Young wins the second stage of the Tour of Gila 2012
Eric Young of Team Bissell Cycling find his winning ways at the SRAM Tour of Gila 2012 after his spectacular performance during the stage 2 of the race.
He crossed the race in a fastest time of 3 hours, 4 minutes and 25 seconds to occupy the top podium spot.
Francisco Mancebo and Chad Beyer of Competitive Cyclist Racing Team achieved the second and the third positions in the respective order.
Anibal Borrajo, Hector Rangel, Marc De Maar, Jesse Goodrich, Fred Rodriguez and Georg Preidler occupied the next six spots.
Young was delighted after the stage win, "I felt that if I caught them off guard I might get lucky and that's exactly what happened".
"I just really wanted to get over the climbs and the whole team was there for me to help me do that. It was not easy, that was a hard win for me”.
"Maybe with 50 meters to go when I sat back down I knew that I had it, just because I couldn't see anyone else".
Second place finisher Mancebo shared his opinion after the stage win, "I was tired yesterday, Joe Martin was a hard race for me”.
Josh Atkins of Team Bontrager-Livestrong and Carlos Lopez of Mexican National Team succeeded during the first and the second sprint of the race.
Stage 1 winner, Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare finished the race at the tenth spot and maintained his overall dominance.
He is now leading the category with a total lead of 10 seconds over Chad Beyer of Competitive Cyclist Racing Team.
Joe Dombrowski of Team Bontrager- Livestrong Team is further 2 seconds behind at the third spot.
Sebastian Salas of Team Optum Pro Cycling, Chris Baldwin of Team Bissell Cycling and Marc De Maar of Team UnitedHealthcare are holding the fourth, the fifth and the sixth positions in the respective order.
Kristin Armstrong of Team Exergy Twenty12 wins the women’s category of the race and secured the top spot.
Janel Holcomb, Carmen Small, Alison Powers and Emily Kachorek finished at the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth spots.
Kristin Armstrong is now leading the stage 2 classifications with Carmen Small, Alison Powers and Janel Holcomb holding the next three spots.
