Erica Morningstar clinches Women’s 100m IM title: 2011 FINA World Cup
Young Canadian athlete, Erica Morningstar won the battle against her rivals, China’s Jing Liu and Russia’s Ekaterina Andreeva, on the second day of the seven stop 2011 FINA World Cup series in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday, October 19. The session of the

Erica got off to a stunning start and thrashed the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 00.57 seconds to clinch the Women’s 100m IM title. Meanwhile, Jing Liu picked silver medal on the podium by hitting the finishing wall in a time of 1 minute and 00.95
seconds and Andreeva settled for bronze title in a time of 1 minute and 01.07 seconds.
The respective race produced some other thrilling results for the arena, as Kristina Kochetkova of Russia went on to get fourth position by posting a matchless time of 1 minute and 01.89 seconds. In the meantime, Olga Klyuchnik of Russia picked fifth spot
with a mark of 1 minute and 02.04 seconds and Victoria Andreeva of Russia claimed sixth position with a time of 1 minute and 02.05 seconds.
In addition, Yulia Yefimova of Russia earned seventh place honours with a time of 1 minute and 02.06 seconds. Yulia was the gold medallist in the Women’s 50m breast-stroke meet at the 2009 World Championships edition, in Rome. Besides, she won six gold medals
at the European Championships editions during the period 2007-2010. Finally, Daria Belyakina of Russia earned eighth place honours by posting a time of 1 minute and 02.43 seconds.
The incredible swimming efforts of Erica Morningstar and other athletes, Jing Liu and Ekaterina Andreeva captured the attention of Moscow’s crowd and the toppers were awarded accolades and cash prizes after the session’s completion.
The seven stop FINA World Cup is a vital series for both junior and senior level swimmers, as it will definitely help them a lot to prepare hard for their upcoming meets at the 2012 London Olympics. The fourth round of the World Series is scheduled to occur
in Berlin, Germany, from October 22-23.
