Erica Morningstar wins Women’s 100m freestyle title - Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions
Erica Morningstar dominated proceedings with her scintillating swim in the Women’s 100m freestyle meet at the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions, held in Mission Viejo, California, on June 23.
Morningstar snared the Women’s 100m freestyle meet with a triumphant time of 55.28 seconds and moved to top spot in the international swimming rankings of this year. Placed second in the 100m freestyle was Katie Hoff of FAST with a time of 55.90 seconds,
whereas, her team-mate, Whitney Myers wounded up third after she touched the finishing wall in a time of 56.62 seconds.
In the second exciting race of the night, Trojan’s swimmer, Otylia Jedrzejczak took home the Women’s 200m butterfly crown with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 10.61 seconds. Capturing silver in the following meet was her team-mate, Lyndsay De Paul with
a time of 2 minutes and 11.43 seconds. Tanya Krisman of North Coast finished her swim third in a time of 2 minutes and 12.70 seconds.
Chloe Sutton of Mission Viejo captured the Women’s 400m freestyle title with a sterling time of 4 minutes and 09.61 seconds. The win also elevated her to top spot in the world rankings. Grabbing second spot in the 400m freestyle was Ashley Steenvoorden of
Minnesota with a time of 4 minutes and 11.01 seconds, while Kate Ziegler of FAST wound up third in a time of 4 minutes and 11.10 seconds.
Matt McLean of Snow snagged the Men’s 400m freestyle title with a victorious time of 3 minutes and 51.30 seconds. Meanwhile, Michael Klueh of FAST earned silver with a time of 3 minutes and 51.96 seconds and Chad La Tourette of Mission Viejo grabbed the
bronze medal in 3 minutes and 56.10 seconds.
The Women’s 400m freestyle crown was taken over by Erica Morningstar, Katy Murdoch, Lindsay Delmar and Breanna Hendriks with a winning time of 3 minutes and 51.26 seconds, while Colin Russell, Joel Greenshields, Chad Bobrosky and Blake Worsley captured the
Men's 400m freestyle title in a time of 3 minutes and 24.55 seconds.
