Erick Hart named as interim athletic director for the SUNY College, search for a full time director is on
With Noah LeFevre, the incumbent Director for Athletics at the SUNY College at Brockport, leaving, the authorities have decided to put Erick Hart, the Associate Athletic Director, in the saddle on interim basis.
LeFevre is leaving the college for a more lucrative position at the Division I Manhattan College. Meanwhile, the college is searching for a full time director who may acquire the position for longer term.
According to the news disclosed by the college, Hart will assume his new role from mid December.
He will lead the athletics department, comprised of 23 sports for both, men and women, until a professional director is hired for the post.
Taking on the responsibility of running the college’s athletics department smoothly, Hart will not be alone to do the job. Rather, he will be assisted by a brilliant Associate Director of Athletics, Susan Hoffman, and Assistant Director, Jessica Wheeler.
For Hart, the responsibility is rather huge as he will be in charge to look after the office issues at a time when the college is busy in building the Tuttle Athletic Complex – a huge $44 million project aimed at establishing the Special Events Recreation
Centre equipped with turf fields.
Hart, while dwelling on to his desire to serve the college in the best possible manner, said, “When I came to Brockport, I arrived with a desire to help re-establish the preeminence of one of the standout programs in the SUNY AC as well as in the northeast
region and the nation”.
He said, “Now with this new opportunity, I want to promote the hard work that takes place on behalf of the student athletes and coaches at our institution within the overall mission of the college. Athletics is not more important but has a different importance
from other educational experiences our students have”.
While commenting on the change that is about to take place in less than three weeks, John Halstead, the president of the SUNY Brockport wished LeFevre well and was content that an equally capable and talented person was there to take care of the college’s
athletics matters on an interim basis.
