I watched joni a lot in philly and he has the ability, hes a good skating defensemen but Erik Cole is a big give up for him imo.  I just havent seen him put it all together enough to warrant being traded for someone like cole.

OMGosh!! I think i am going to curl up in a ball and cry now!! This is the one thing i was scared of!! I know the canes need defense but i love Erik Cole!

I don't know who is in the Oilers front office that are pulling these strings, but h**l of a pick up.  Being a huge Caps fan and the years of watching Cole dump in crucial goals, can't say I'M sad about him leaving the SE...side note:  Caps lock down Green for 4 yrs at 21 mil earlier today--Thank you Leonisis!!!!!!!!!!

the canes need help on d so good for them. i hate the oilers, but it is a pretty good deal for them because they have a deep blueline and a questionable foorward group. should be interseting to see which team got the better end of the deal

Erik Cole is a lot to give up for a dman who has a ton of skill but has been injury riddled and only had one real good season in his second year, which is a while back. Good trade for Edmonton. I think Carolina must be in the running for an elite forward such as Hossa or Rolston, so this move probably clears up some cap space and opens up a forward spot for a new comer.
