Erik Spoelstra believes that Chris Bosh is the most important player in Miami Heat – NBA Update
Only when Miami Heat lost Chris Bosh in the game 1 of the second round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers last season, did we realize the significance this athletic big made to the team. For two games that series, Miami
looked like a team with no clue what to do down low. They eventually did get their act together, but once Bosh returned back in the next round against the Boston Celtics, they just became unstoppable.
The last playoff run pretty much highlighted the fact that Miami are incomplete without Bosh, and when the big man stepped up to carry Heat a few nights ago against the Phoenix Suns - when Dwyane Wade was injured and LeBron James
was suffering from flu-like-symptoms - he again came into the spotlight.
With Miami shorthanded, Bosh stepped up to knock down 24 points on a 9-of-11 shooting. Heat eventually won the game and head coach Erik Spoelstra was so impressed that he called Bosh as the most important player of the team;
“He is our most important player, and he’s as steady and consistent as he always has been for the last two and a half years,” Spoelstra said. “He makes it look easy and he makes it look quiet, and yet he’s so impactful in the game.
He was big under the rim and not just his scoring, but the big plays defensively at the end.”
Bosh also impressed LeBron, who has had eleven 20 plus games in 11 outings so far this season;
“He’s such an impact to our team, so efficient,” James said. “He gets his points so quietly, makes jumpshots, gets to the free throw line, makes things happen for our team and we all feed off of that. And I tried to feed off of
that as well.”
Bosh has indeed come a long way at the South Beach. After being the face of the Toronto Raptors for seven years, he faced a huge challenge to play as a second fiddle to the duo of LeBron and Wade. He had troubles in the first season,
but gradually adjusted and tried to make impact in the little windows that came his way.
That phase is however a thing of the past. Chris has now settled into his role, and is a huge part of the juggernaut that is Miami Heat.
