Miami Head Coach realizes the advantage former Celtics shooting guard will give to the team with his long range shooting abilities....

Erik Spoelstra must be a happy coach, knowing that he has the Miami Heat “big three” playing for him, an NBA title that they just won in June 2012, and the fact that NBA's best ever three point shooter has been added to the roster
in the off-season.
After a great 2011-2012 campaign which saw the Miami Heat winning their first NBA title since 2006, they have improved their chances of repeating the feat next year bu adding future hall of famer and former Boston Celtics shooting
guard Ray Allen to the roster.
Allen, who has played the past five seasons for the Boston Celtics and was part of their “big three” which helped them win the NBA championship in 2008, declined a contract extension offer from his former team and signed with the
Heat for almost half the salary.
Ray had been reportedly disappointed with the way he was handled by the Celtics, particularly at the fact of losing his starting position to up and coming shooting guard Avery Bradley last season.
The addition of Allen to the Miami squad has certainly made them stronger going into next season. The Miami Heat had to rely on the penetration of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade for scoring much of the past season. And when the Heat
bench stepped up their three point shooting in the NBA Finals, the Heat looked like an unbeatable team.
With the addition of Allen, the Heat now have a three point specialist, who is a great catch and shoot player and one of the greatest three pointers shooters in the history of the game. Allen’s addition will give Miami another
scoring option, while also spreading the defence to give James and Wade more chances of penetrating.
Miami Head Coach Spoelstra knows what the addition of Allen means to the team and is excited about beginning next season with him on the roster.
"He's a Hall of Fame-type catch-and-shoot player. We haven't had that element before in our offense. So it's been a lot of fun, trying to X-and-O and come up with new ways to get him open. I don't want to overthink it. I don't
want to totally change what we do, but that's a great element to have, that type of weapon,” said Spoelstra.
Spoelstra knew that Miami needed to improve in the offseason if they wanted to stay competitive next season and compete for the NBA title. They knew that other teams were going to improve, which is what happened with the Los Angeles
Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics signing key players to improve their roster. With Allen, Miami stay in the same category as the competition, if not ahead of it.
