Erik Spoelstra hails ‘consistent’ LeBron James – NBA Update
LeBron James is the ultimate stat stuffing machine. He is a three time times MVP, the most versatile player you will ever see and last year, he finally got his hands on the most prized possession of them all – the Larry O’Brien
trophy. In short, he is the best basketball specimen the NBA has seen in sometime, perhaps the most complete player of all time.
However what makes him great is not his achievements. It is the desire, which wills him on to keep winning and improving, come what may. That is something Miami Heat have become accustomed to in the last two years, none other than
their head coach Erik Spoelstra.
Spoelstra, who gave his team Tuesday off, talked about James after Monday’s practice at the AmericanAirlines Arena and highlighted LeBron’s urge to excel;
"We kept score in every drill we did," said Spoelstra "and he was trying to win each game, with each one of his teams. We went three-on-three, we went four-on-four, we went five-on-five, and each time he's trying to will his team
to win, whatever the drill was.
"That makes you more consistent when you actually get to the real game competition. That's something deep inside of him. You can't teach that quality. You try to cultivate it with guys, with he's an ultimate competitor."
The path to success however has not been easy for James. There was a time not far back when despite all his talent, the ‘Chosen One’ experienced failures consistently, for eight consecutive years infact. The hardest of those eight
years was perhaps the 2010-11 season. That time, not only did James have to fight off his opponents day in and day out, but also had to absorb all the hatred which aroused from his decision of leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers. That season, he played to silence
his haters, and eventually lost in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.
A heart break it was, no doubt, but it only made LeBron stronger, more versatile and dangerously consistent.
And he came back with a bang.
Playing like a man possessed, James carried the Heat to their second franchise championship this June, and has now carried his momentum into this season. At present, the King is leading the league with thirteen consecutive 20-point
games, and this is just one facet of man who is quickly moving closer to being branded as the best player of all times.
