Erik Spoelstra pays little attention to Rajon Rondo’s comments – NBA News

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra did not have much to say about the comments which Rajon Rondo made regarding his team’s play in game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
At half time during game 4 while Rondo was on his way to the locker room, ESPN’s Doris Burke caught up with Rondo and asked him what weaknesses in the Heat’s defense he was working on as part of his offensive play. Rondo replied
by saying “Them complaining and crying to the referees in transition."
Boston went on to win the game 93-91 in overtime, with Rondo scoring the final 3 points for Boston that gave them the victory. After the game, Burke again talked to Rondo and asked him if he expected any response from Miami after
his comments. Rondo said:
“What I said was true. I don't take back what I said. That's what it is”
Rondo’s comments were put in front of Erik Spoelstra to comment upon on Monday. Downplaying the whole incident as if it meant nothing, Spoelstra said that it was usual this deep in the playoffs for teams to say things like these.
"I could really care less -- couldn't care less about what another player has to say about our team. The deeper you get into a competitive series, the more people [say], the more noise there tends to be” said Spoelstra.
Miami were called for 28 personal fouls in the game 4 loss to the Celtics and LeBron James was fouled out for the first time in his playoff career with only two of the 6 fouls being defensive in nature.
Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was also asked to shed light on the comments given by Rajon Rondo during and after game 4, but he decided not to touch the issue. Asked whether he sees Miami complaining to the referees when he sees
the game films, Rivers said:
"We watch a lot of film, I'll just stop there. Other than that, I don't make comments on that. I mean, Rondo is very emotional, we like him to be intense. Obviously, if that motivates anybody else, that motivates anybody else.
As far as what he said, I'll leave that alone. I'll just leave it there."
