Erik Storck and Trevor Moore go back home without medal in 2012 London Olympic Games
Final day of the 49er race proceedings finished on the Weymouth and Portland waters featuring winners of gold, silver and bronze medals. Erik Storck and Trevor Moore of US Olympic Sailing Team were able to claim 15th position in the overall standings
of the Olympic regatta.
The US pair had a slow start in the event with a sixth, 10th and 16th finish on the opening day of the 49er racing. However, despite a slow start, the US duo did not lose focus and continued their good form in order to grab a strong
position in the event.
They claimed a couple of higher finishes in the middle of the regatta but it was not enough from them to clinch a better podium spot in the rankings. Both Storck and Moore were hoping for a finish in Top 10 but they failed to improvise accordingly and tumbled
down.
Speaking to the local media, Storck said, “A couple of things didn’t go our way. It was very close all the way through. The points may not indicate that, but we’re proud of how we performed all the way through. We don’t believe we performed to our ability,
and we truly believe we could have been medal contenders.”
In other events of the 2012 London Olympic Games sailing, Mark Mendelblatt and Brian Fatih of US Olympic Sailing Team managed to claim seventh position overall in the Star fleet with the help of impressive finishes during their run.
