Erik Storck and Trevor Moore in trouble on Day 5 of 2012 London Olympic Games Sailing
At the end of third day proceedings of the 2012 London Olympic Games sailing competitions, America’s Erik Storck and Trevor Moore were in strong position after their campaign in the 49er class. They were outstanding on the racing area which made them one
of the favourite teams.
With impressive sailing display on the Weymouth and Portland waters, they placed themselves in the Top 10 podium places but after that they were unable to maintain their position and tumbled down to 13th place. They are now struggling in the fleet
and they need a major victory in the upcoming races which might take them to a safe position.
They finished on lower podiums in the start of the regatta but they bounced back into the game brilliantly and clinched some higher finishes, including a bullet, to uplift the team’s confidence. Nevertheless, a poor performance on fourth and fifth day nudged
them down in the standings.
While speaking to the local media, Moore said, “You make one mistake and the fleet is going to pounce on it. Going into tomorrow, our speed is still there, our starts are still there. We have to go out and execute and capitalize on the strengths that we
have.”
The weather conditions on the Weymouth and Portland were strong for some healthy sailing but still the fleet managed to make it, to the complete racing schedule on time.
