Atlanta Dream 87 - New York Liberty 81
Erika DeSouza
Erika DeSouza recorded a double-double with a game-high 27 points and 15 rebounds in Atlanta’s 87-81 victory over the New York Liberty at Philips Arena.
DeSouza, the leading rebounder for the Dream this season, shot 11 for 16 from the field in 36 plus minutes as the Dream successfully snapped their two-game losing streak. DeSouza's pair of free throw with 5:11 to go in the game
gave Atlanta a two-point lead, 74-72, and they never trailed again.
Lindsey Harding
Lindsey Harding had a sizzling performance in the same encounter. The Dream point guard chipped 25 points and grabbed four rebounds to help Atlanta pull out their third victory of the season. The 27-year-old player pinned 6 of
7 free throws and hit 9 for 13 from the floor.
Cappie Pondexter
Cappie Pondexter played tremendously well for the New York Liberty. The shooting guard scored a team-high 24 points, including nine in the last three and half minutes of the game. She also dished out six assists in the loss. The
player hit a perfect 10 for 10 from free throw line and 4 for 7 from three-point range. Pondexter had two rebounds and two steals.
Essence Carson
Essence Carson was another bright spot in Liberty’s defeat. The six-footer came off the bench with 12 points and three rebounds. The player also blocked two shots on the night.
Minnesota Lynx vs. Tulsa Shock
Lindsay Whalen
Lindsay Whalen scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the second period, powering the Minnesota Lynx to an impressive 101-71 win over the Tulsa Shock at BOK Center. The player also contributed five assists and four rebounds, finishing
on a 9 for 14 from the field.
Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve praised brilliant performance of Whalen and said, “Lindsay was just really, really good in that second quarter.” “She was the key to our transition game. She was really, really locked in from the get-go.
There's not better guard in the league at attacking the basket than Lindsay.”
Candice Wiggins
Candice Wiggins played her best game of the current season and reached double-digits for the first time. The guard shot 6 for 9 from the field including a breath-taking 5 for 7 from the long range for her 18 points.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin
Forward centre Taj McWilliams-Franklin punctuated 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds on a 4 for 6 shooting from the field in Minnesota’s win.
Kayla Pedersen
Kayla Pedersen shined in Tulsa’s fourth consecutive loss. The player had 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
