Erika Reineke leads Laser Radial class of 2012 Audi Laser World Championship
Laser Radial fleet of the 2012 Audi Laser World Championship has had a superb event so far at Boltenhagen in Germany and was able to complete the scheduled races on Day 2 to formulate the overall results in the end.
The weather conditions on the racing area were quite strong which did trouble the sailors a bit but they managed to complete the scheduled races.
America’s Erika Reineke sailed impressively in the regatta from the beginning and with some high finishes on Day 2 proceedings she was able to claim the leading podium place in the overall standings with 43 points after participating in four races, including
a discard race.
The fleet had to face strong wind conditions on the second day as the breeze was blowing around the racing area from 15 to 20 knots along with some heavy gusts.
The forecast was indeed troubling for the Laser Radial participants but the fleet was quite determined and finished the proceedings despite the problematic circumstances.
American sailor, Reineke clinched the 26th position in the first race of the day which was discarded in at the end. However, in the second race, she was able to finish on comparatively higher place to clinch the leading position.
At the end of Day 2 proceedings, the leader-board had some shifts because one race was discarded from overall results.
Great Britain’s Alison Young discarded the lowest finished race in which she finished on 39th position. With this discard, she was able to move up in the standings from 31st podium place to first in the second day racings.
