Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson of Go Kingfish claimed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on last day of the 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals at the Edmonton Kinsmen Sport Centre in Edmonton on Sunday, July 22.
The 17-year-old Seltenreich-Hodgson devastated hopes of her challengers in the four-lap IM discipline as she sprinted her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her alluring efforts, she enjoyed a benefit of two body lengths over her strongest challenger and tapped the wall for first position with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.37 seconds.
The champion was followed by Sydney Pickrem of Neptune, who remained two and a half body lengths apart and occupied silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 16.86 seconds.
Pickrem was followed by Tianna Rissling of AMAC and Marni Oldershaw of OAK, who battled each other for the third fastest spot of the event.
The duo demonstrated their astonishing efforts in the final lap but failed to surpass each other over the finishing wall and ended in a joint finish for bronze medal. Similarly, the pair of third position holders was followed by Paige Schultz of TSC, who stayed more than a body length away and settled on the finishing blockade as fifth best finisher by producing a time of 2 minutes and 18.72 seconds.
