Eriko Hirose demolishes Thulasi P. C. in Women’s Singles first round at India Open 2013
Japan’s aggressive shuttler Eriko Hirose started her campaign in a dominating manner in Women’s Singles first round when she easily demolished the local player Thulasi P. C. at Yonex Sunrise India Open 2013 in New Delhi, on Wednesday, April 24.
The sixth seeded Eriko, who has been impressive in all major tournaments for the last one year, played with complete command and remained successful in finishing up the opening round contest against Thulasi in a one-sided manner in just 38 minutes.
The higher ranked Japanese shuttler was quite comfortable in taking the bird early from all areas and she easily thrashed her Indian challenger in a dominating manner with a crushing 21-7 and 21-13 score on the board.
Thulasi, on the other hand, could not live up to the expectations of her home fans as she failed to produce better form against the aggressive Eriko and lost the match without making her presence strongly felt.
Eriko played with excellent control in her shots and managed to take over the affairs from initial points of the first set. She was comfortable in placing her shots in right areas and troubled her rival with a greater ease.
The tempo of the rallies was quite fast in first set and it was the in-form Eriko who impressed local crowd with her lofty skills and positive play.
Japanese lady proceeded with a stunning speed in the first half and stayed in lead on the board until the mid-game interval.
The battle progressed in the similar fashion after the one-minute break as Eriko did not lose her control on court.
Eriko was very calm and composed on court as she did not take pressure and won the first game with a staggering difference of 21-7 on the board.
Thulasi tried her best to play tricky badminton in the starting part of second set but could not create pressure on her opponent.
Eriko displayed her incredible skills on court by picking the bird timely from all corners and kept her upper hand over her opponent.
The aggressive and positive play in the ending half of second set assisted Eriko to claim the set with a comfortable 21-13 margin on the board.
